Zac Efron in no need of help from Matthew Perry

Teen favourite Zac Efron and his girlfriend and High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens have attended the Hollywood premiere of the new comedy 17 Again. The film tells the story of a man who is given a chance to go back to school and relive part of his past in an effort to not make the same mistakes twice and offer the wisdom gained from his two decades of experience since graduating. Friends star Matthew Perry plays 37-year-old husband and father Mike O'Donnell while Efron portrays O'Donnell as a teenager. Efron, 21, talked about what drew him to the role, his first away from Disney's popular High School musical franchise. He said: "It was an opportunity to play a completely different role while still staying in a high school setting. I'm playing a 37-year-old father, something I couldn't really relate to. It just seemed different and exciting. "It also seemed like a challenge. I knew it wouldn't be easy, especially with Burr Steers directing. And, you know, it turned out all right. I think we made a nice little movie." He continued: "It's most definitely a family movie. I think a lot of people kind of look at it like a teen comedy. Teens will love the film. But, you know, dads are coming up to me and saying 'Dude, we loved it.' "It's really about an undercover father who goes back to reconnect with his family and falls in love with his wife all over again. And so it's a story about second chances, and, you know, I think there's something that everyone can relate to in the movie." Hudgens, 20, said: "It's just, I think it's really a great movie and it's a lot of fun. And he gets to play a different character. He's playing older, playing. No, he's young playing older. Which is a good change."
