A youth has been arrested by police investigating the murder of Adam Regis who was stabbed to death in east London.Adam, the 15-year-old nephew of Olympic sprinter John Regis, had been returning home from the cinema in Beckton on Saturday night when he was stabbed within "a bus ride" of his home.The black teenager was found at around 9.30pm at the junction of Boundary Road and Kingsland Road, a residential area not far from West Ham United's football ground in Upton Park, east London.He was taken to Newham General Hospital but died of his injuries shortly before 11pm. A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a single stab wound to the chest and abdomen.A Scotland Yard statement said: "At approximately 7.45 today, officers attended an address in East Ham and arrested a youth - believed aged in his teens - in connection with the inquiry. He is now in custody at an east London police station."We stress that the investigation continues and that all our points of appeal remain. All lines of inquiry do remain open."Adam was described as a "model pupil" by his headteacher, Joan Deslandes, of Kingsford Community School.She said: "Adam was a delightful, bubbly young man who worked hard and was happy in school. His attendance and punctuality were excellent."Adam was a pleasure to have around the school and we will always remember him with a smile on his face. Adam really was a model pupil.
