Woody Allen debuts in Cannes

One of the Cannes film festival's best loved directors, Woody Allen, has returned with his new film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona.The film stars Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Rebecca Hall and the recently engaged Scarlett Johansson and tells the story of their escapades in the Spanish city of Barcelona.It also features a controversial kiss between Cruz and Johansson. When asked about the tricky topic of their liaison, Cruz remained sheepish and said she had been "asked four times today."Allen said at the press conference in Cannes that the film is a homage to the city: "I love Spain and I love Barcelona..."Allen's previous films include Annie Hall, Hannah and Her Sisters, Manhattan, Scoop and Match Point.
