Carey Mulligan and Dominic Cooper say they had an education into the 1960s whilst working on their latest film. An Education is set in 1961, just ahead of the rise of Britain's most famous bands and before mini skirts became a must have. Dominic revealed: "It was quite interesting to find out the world my parents grew up in. It was just on the cusp of London becoming very exciting in the swinging sixties. "Rolling Stones and The Beatles were in studios recording. But if you didn't have lots of money, it seemed like quite a grey, dull place." Based on a memoir by Lynn Barber, the film offers an insight into the choices available to women at the time. Sixteen-year-old Jenny, played by Carey Mulligan, discovers that the best she has to look forward to after studying at Oxford is a job as a teacher or civil servant. The schoolgirl is forced choose between that life or a more glamourous one with her new boyfriend played by Peter Sarsgaard.
