WEATHER: Aftermath of storms that killed 13

At least 13 people are now known to have died in storms that swept Britain. Thirty thousand people are still without power in Cheshire and parts of Wales, and thousands more in the West Midlands, as engineers struggled to repair the damage caused by gusts of wind that reached more than 70 miles per hour. Insurers say claims are likely to run into hundreds of millions of pounds. The British container ship whose crew were rescued after its engine room flooded with water is being towed into Lyme Bay. Tugs from France and the Maritime Coastguard Agency are taking the MSC Napoli to the relative safety of the Dorset coast where a salvage operation can take place. A small proportion of the containers on board are classed as hazardous.
