USA: Wild fire in Utah burns nearly 160 thousand acres

A wild fire in Utah burns nearly 160 thousand acres and closes some major highways. A wildfire in Utah in the United States that started on Friday (July 6) continues to burn on Sunday (July 8) and has scorched nearly 160 thousand acres. Officials in Utah are calling it the Milford Flat blaze, and they say more than 500 elite firemen are battling the fire, which was sparked by lightning Friday afternoon. The fire is located near the town of Milford, which is about 230 miles south of Utah's capital, Salt Lake City. The fire has been fed by very dry conditions and gusting winds. It's one of the largest ever in Utah history. On Saturday air tankers were called in to battle the blaze. Two major highways, Interstates 15 and 70, were reopened on Sunday after being closed because of the fire and heavy smoke. The smoke is blamed for several accidents including a fatal motorcycle accident which killed two people.
