A personal chef in New York City pampers dogs with dishes like Mediterranean couscous and country chicken, and personalizes menus for pooch palettes. Milo is one pampered pooch. Instead of boring old beef and gravy, he chows down on dishes like peruvian lamb, mediterranean couscous and bison muttloaf. And now other dogs in New York City can eat like Milo too. Milo's owner, Megan Montgomery is the creator of Zen Chien, a personal chef service for dogs that uses all natural ingredients. For 15 - 20 U.S. dollars a day she prepares and delivers personalised meals with menus for her doggy clients, mindful of any allergies they may have. "Each week you have an exciting new menu using organic grains and protein sources such as eggs, ground lamb, turkey, beef, bison and chicken," said Montgomery. The idea for Zen Chien was spawned after Milo was diagnosed with a malignant tumour in his lip in 2005. "After that diagnosis, I started to investigate commercial pet food alternatives in the hopes of enhancing his quality of life." But she didn't find any that satisfied her. So she began cooking for the Dachshund-Jack Russell mix herself and thought other pet owners might want the same service. "This is as easy as opening a can of dog food. You just open it up, put it in his bowl, zap it for about 15 seconds and you can go to bed knowing that he has everything he needs," said Jacquelyn Karl, whose dog Buster is a Zen Chien customer. Demand for Zen Chien is on the rise. In the past week, Montgomery's sales have doubled.
