Tempers flared on Sunday (September 24) during the Glass City 200 Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA ) race at Toledo Speedway Ohio, United States. After 112 laps a restart was signalled at the end of a yellow caution period. Michael Simko of Clarkston, Michigan was bumped while forming up for the start and was pitched into the wall. Simko believed that Don St. Denis of LaSalle, Ontario (car 20) was responsible for the incident and angrily walked down the line of cars looking for him. When he located St, Denis's car Simko launched himself into a two-footed kick into the cockpit of the car and then began whacking at St. Denis with his helmet. Luckily for St. Denis his cockpit was protected by a steel cage and the blows did not land. Officials pulled Simko away after the Michigan driver began punching St. Denis who was still wearing his helmet. Then a livid St. Denis managed to pull himself from the car and ran past officials to leap on Simko. The two traded punches before the officials returned to pull them apart. Neither driver took part in the rest of the race but were classified 23rd and 24th. Both men are reported to have been suspended from ARCA events in future. Jack Landis of Bryan, Ohio went on to win the race.
