USA: Hundreds take icy plunge into Lake Michigan during the annual Milwaukee Polar Bear Club's New Year's Day event

The Milwaukee Polar Bear Club has its own tradition to usher in the New Year, and it's not for everyone. Hundreds of cold weather enthusiasts stripped down to their bathing suits Sunday (December 31) afternoon and jumped into Lake Michigan. The annual Milwaukee event boasts a history of more than 50 years. The highest temperature reached on Sunday was 42 degrees Fahrenheit (6 degrees Celsius).
