Witnesses said a man walked into a church in Neosho, MIssouri after an afternoon service on Sunday (August 12) and opened fire on the congregation, killing three. As many as 50 people were inside the church at the time. A brief hostage situation ensued after the shootings but the suspect quickly gave himself up to police. Police say the shooter was armed with two small calibre handguns and a 9-millimetre pistol. Police also say the shooter was involved in an altercation on Saturday (August 11) night with a family that belongs to the church . No other details concerning a possible motive nor the identities of those killed have been released. Neosho is in the southeast corner of the state of Missouri.
