Ahead of the launch of his North American and European tour, rock legend Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band performed live on a U.S. breakfast program on Friday (September 28, 2007). The tour is to promote the release of the group's new album, "Magic." The group will perform more than 30 concerts from October 2 to December in the United States, Canada, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Ireland, France and Britain. Springsteen made many of his early records with the E Street Band, but after his 1987 "Tunnel of Love" album he used the band more sporadically. Through 1999, he toured with different musicians and performed solo. Outside the New York studio of NBC's The Today Show, Springsteen fans camped overnight in Rockefeller Center to ensure a prime vantage point. Springsteen rocked through several songs from "Magic" as well as hits from his 34-year long career. Before performing one song, Springsteen spoke about what he sees as the changing face of America in recent years. "Over the past six years we have had to add to the American picture: rendition, illegal wiretapping, voter suppression and no habeas corpus, and neglect of our great city of New Orleans and the people, an attack on the Constitution and the loss of our best men and women in a tragic war."
