USA: BOXING - Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton prepare for their upcoming fight

Floyd Mayweather is confident he can take anything Britain's Ricky Hatton throws at him in their Las Vegas showdown on December 8th and is certain that he will not be leaving the ring with a fight in the loss column. "You must realize that that's everybody's game plan is to apply pressure, pressure, pressure and 38 fighters applied pressure and all 38 came up short so it reallly doesn't matter. We're going to approach this fight the same way we approach every otther fight..take my time, follow the game plan, listen to my uncle Roger (Roger Mayweather) and get the job done," the smooth fighter told reporters at an open training session in Las Vegas on Wednesday (November 28). When told by one questioner how he handles Hatton's trash talking Mayweather was quick to set the record straight. "Ricky Hatton is not a trash talker. That's not what Ricky Hatton does. Floyd Mayweather has been a trash talker for over a decade. That's what I do. I've done that my whole career. This guys is not a trash talker actually but you live and you learn. I've been in 18 or 19 championship fights. I know what it takes and I'll just take my time and take it from there." Hatton displays equal confidence and insists that pacing for the 12 round showdown will be crucial. "Well one is going to lose their unbeaten record obviously but I think the tactics will be clear for the fight. I'll be on the front foot and Floyd will be on the back foot and we'll stand toe to toe for a bit. He likes to stand in there and makes opponents miss so I've got to be careful I don't waste too many punches in the first six rounds and save myself for the final six but tactically I know what he's up to and I think I'm going to do it." Hatton, from Manchester, will bring a 43-0 (31 by knockout) record to next Saturday's fight. Mayweather, with a record of 38-0 (24 KO's) has been undefeated since making his pro debut in October of 1996 and was a bronze medalist int he Atlanta Olympic Games.
