USA: Asian pop princess, Sun, was in New York recently for some fashion and song, as she tries to forge a niche in America

New York Fashion Week is about style of course, and trends, but also about the many stars that descend on Bryant Park to be part of the fashion maelstrom. South East Asian pop singer, Sun, was one of the stars that made the most of the buzz around New York Fashion Week, by having a release party around the same time for her new single out, "Gone." The party was thrown by designer Nicole Miller and celebrity photographer Patrick McMullan in the Hamptons. 'Gone', which starts out on a pensive note but morphs into a funky dance club remix, with DJs like Tony Moran and Jason Nevins, has been doing well on the Billboard charts. After posing against the Manhattan skyline near Bryant Park for a photographer, Sun, who has done well with singles on the American dance music circuit in the recent past, spoke about what she liked about "Gone" and why she enjoyed making dance music. "The dance floor doesn't lie. When you see people dancing to your music, and just totally mesmerized by it, it just give you that thrill that no words can describe. It's such a true reflection of whether they like it, or they don't like it. So, I love doing dance music and 'Gone' is so emotional, it feels like I totally using my voice to get everything out of the person, with their dancing. They're not just enjoying it, but they are also feeling the words, the lyrics, some might be identifying with it, some must be just loving it," said the songstress. Sun also spoke of her fondness for American rapper and producer, Wyclef Jean, with whom she worked recently on a new single, which will be released shortly. Sun said that she and Jean hit it off immediately and at their very first meeting, they recorded a song together. Jean also had kind words for her, saying that she was one of the sharpest singers he had worked with in the recording studio. As for New York Fashion Week, Sun said that it wasn't just the fashionable runways that excited her, but also just the general atmosphere in the tents, with everyone dressed so nicely. Sun, who has her own line of boutiques in Asia, called 'Skin', said she looked out for designs that she would like to stock. One of the designers she spoke to for this purpose was her favourite, Brian Reyes, and she hopes to bring his clothes to South East Asia. She was also happy to meet with Japanese designer Akiko Ogawa at the tents. Sun, who has a huge fan following in South East Asia, is now trying to forge a bigger, special niche for herself in America. ENDS.
