Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Wednesday (October 3) the United States was in no position to start a war against Iran given its military commitment in Iraq. The "U.S. is not in the position to impose another war in our region, against the (U.S.) taxpayers," Mottaki told a news conference at the United Nations. The Iranian minister said that assessment -- "based on the realities in the region" -- did not rule out Iranian precautions. "Any country, based on its defense policies and doctrine, should be prepared," he said. We have informed two years ago the Americans that what will happen if they make such mad decision against our country, and they know very well," he added. "The countries who are tasting the forth or fifth generation of the nuclear bombs are the real threat for the world because they have the experience of using nuclear weapons in their history. Who have used once may use again," said Mottaki The United States has said it seeks a diplomatic solution to a dispute with Tehran over its nuclear program but that no option has been taken off the table. Washington fears Iran is seeking nuclear weapons, something Tehran denies. "If it's good for United States, why is it is not good for Iran? If it is bad for Iran, why you are not following the same policy in your country? We do believe that there must be some kind of balance in approach in international arena," said Mottaki. Mottaki said the real threat to world peace comes from countries that already posses nuclear weapons, especially the U.S.. Mottaki, speaking in English, said that every six months there was a "kind of psychological war" relating to the U.S. option of a strike against Iran.
