Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson described his team's 7-1 mauling of Roma at Old Trafford on Tuesday (April 10) as the greatest win of his managerial career. Ferguson said: "I think it was a special night. Hopefully it's not a one-off in terms of quality, but certainly the quality of the goals was very very high and you won't get that again." He added: "I just think the early goal was difficult for Roma tonight because it gave us the advantage and it made them, put them on the back foot first of all. It gave us the confidence to get through and the speed of our play caused them a lot of problems after that." Roma counterpart Luciano Spalletti said glumly: "Indeed I think that we suffered quite a bit from a lack of experience. I think we started well. The first 10 minutes we were doing some good work in the middle and then they scored. Don't get me wrong, it was a great goal but we tried to get back too quick and played into their hands."
