Union 'optimistic' at BA Iberia merger

A union representing British Airways staff says it is "cautiously optimistic" about a merger between the airline and Iberia.On Thursday, BA and Iberia reached a preliminary agreement for a merger expected to be completed in late 2010.Mick Rix, the national secretary of the GMB union, said it the merger was a "good news story".He added: "A friendly merger is far better than a hostile takeover"
