UK: Daniel Radcliffe says he guessed the ending of Harry Potter before the final book was published

At the UK premiere of his first big-screen movie other than the Harry Potter series, Daniel Radcliffe tells how he managed to guess the ending of Harry Potter before the final book was published. British actor Daniel Radcliffe on Thursday (September 13) attended the premiere of his first big-screen movie aside from the Harry Potter series "December Boys". Based on the Michael Noonan novel, "December Boys" is the story of four orphan teenagers growing up behind the closed doors of a Catholic convent in outback Australia during the 1960s. As the boys watch younger kids get adopted by loving families, they begin to realize that as they get older, their turn may never come. When the convent sends the boys to visit the seaside one summer, they finally have something to look forward to. While at the seaside, the boys meet a young couple unable to have children, who would make the perfect parents. The eldest of the boys, Maps (Radcliffe), finds himself drawn to Lucy, a beautiful girl from down the coast. Competing to be the most adoptable, the rest of the boys, Sparks, Misty and Spit, severely test their friendships as long gestating feelings of rejection explode to the surface. Outside the cinema, a crowd of cheering female fans eagerly awaited Radcliffe's arrival. One of them, with a rather serious , marriage proposal: "I proposed to him on television before, I've been all over the news."( Reporter: What response did you get?) "He just looked at my banner and laughed but hopefully today he will say yes." A fellow fan from Brazil said : "I think that's a bit crazy, but if she wants to" And Radcliffe himself said, he finds those type of fans rather scary: "I did indeed , I signed the poster , it was a little bit strange because normally whenever I see signs like that I always think it's a bit tongue in cheek ...but it wasn't. She's quite serious about it which is a little bit scary" Radcliffe said he will begin working on "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" -- the sixth movie in the seven part series -- this month and that the project would likely take a minimum of eight or nine months. He also revealed that he managed to guess the ending of Harry Potter before the final book was published and talking to JK Rowling about it, he worked it out: "Yes absolutely. I said to Jo Rowling, do I die, and she said you have a death scene, and from there I had to work out other things which I won't say on television in case I get into lots of trouble." When Radcliffe turned 18 in July he gained access to a reported $40 million US dollars , but instead of lashing out on a flash car his biggest extravagance so far has been -- a painting. He has earned his fortune playing Potter. And asked about earning more money than his parents, he laughed: "We sort of have a bit of a laugh about it to be honest, it's not something we take particularly seriously it's not something I rub into their faces or anything." December Boys is released across the UK on September 14.
