Troops overrun LTTE controlled southern part of Adampan tank

Military Sppokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara has said that the Sri Lanka security forces have overrun the Southern Division of the Adampan Tank which contorlled by the terrorist LTTE. (08/02/2008) He said LTTE cadres who came in boats fitted with machine guns at around 6.45 p.m. yesterday attacked security forces personnel in the Thanakiluppu Forward Defence Line in Jaffna. The troops retaliated with automatic weapons, artillery and battle tanks. One boat was shattered. Four LTTE cadres were killed. They had fled in their boats but engaged in attacks from 6.45 to 10 p.m.. 30 LTTE terrorists were killed and 29 injured in several encounters that took place in Jaffna, Vavuniya, Mannar and Welioya. One soldier was killed and another injured. The Navy monitored a group of tiger terrorists in Trincomalee at around 8 p.m. yesterday. Three were killed when the navy attacked them. Two T-56 assault rifles, two micro pistols, magazines, ammunition, two claymore mines, two anti personnel mines and other military equipment were recovered.
