European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet spoke with Bloomberg's Fabienne Lissak yesterday in Aix-en-Provence, France, about the three-month old European Union balanced-budget agreement, the outlook for European economic growth and the euro. For the second time in four days Trichet has indirectly criticized French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who has proposed 11 billion euros ($15 billion) of tax cuts to spur growth and called for easing of deficit controls.
