TRANSPORT: Richmond Council to continue with plans to link parking permit cost to level of car emissions

Richmond Council says it will press ahead with big rises in residents' parking permits for the more polluting cars, because, they claim, that is what residents want. Owners of four by fours could pay as much as £300 a year to park outside their homes. And it is not just 4x4s, all high performance vehicles will be faced with a hike. The council says it is necessary to tackle climate change but protestors say it is merely a stealth tax.
