Convention on Modern Liberty 28.2.2009 London Toture & the Decline in Human Rights Standards: Question & Answer session Chaired by Saghir Hussain , spokesman: Cage Prisoners Moazzam Begg is one is one of nine British Muslims who were held in extrajudicial detention in Guantanamo Bay. Begg has become a well-known commentator on issues pertaining to the Muslim community in the UK and its anti-terror measures - both domestic and worldwide. He has appeared in numerous television interviews and documentaries, including Taking Liberties and the Oscar-winning Taxi to the Dark Side. He is a spokesman for CagePrisoners Victoria Brittain is a former associate foreign editor of the Guardian. Her books include Hidden Lives, Hidden Deaths and Death of Dignity. She is co-author with Moazzam Begg of his book Enemy Combatant: A British Muslim’s Journey to Guantanamo and Back (2006). She also compiled the play Guantánamo with Gillian Slovo. Edward Fitzgerald QC Human rights barrister at Doughty Street Chambers who has represented a number of terror suspects against extradition to the US. He has also represented some of the most notorious criminals in court. David Rose (unfortunately couldn't make the session) is a writer and investigative journalist. His work appears in the Observer and Vanity Fair. Among his books are A Climate of Fear (1992) and In the Name of the Law (Vintage, 1996).
