Thousands of 'shade balls' dumped into L.A. reservoir
6-11 (CNN) Workers dumped hundreds of thousands of black plastic balls into one of Los Angeles' last remaining open-air reservoirs. The so-called "shade balls" were released into the Ivanhoe Reservoir as a way to prevent a sunlight-fueled chemical reaction that can harm the water supply.
