The team was led by Cdr David Wallace and was comprised of officer and enlisted personnel who went onboard different Navy ships during Pacific Exercise 1989 and evaluated simulated battle damage; they then reported their findings to the ship's commanding officer.The BDAT was a new program which was tested during Pacific Rim Exercise 1989.
