I turned around and saw her crying. This wasnt the hormones kicking in either. I could tell that she is genuinely scared. I sat on the bed next to her and wrapped my arms around her and rested my chin on the top of her head while she buried her face in my shirt. Joe: what are you scared about? Jess: What if Im not a good mom? Or what if something goes wrong, or what if the baby doesnt want me? Joe: there is no need to be scared. You are going to be an amazing mom, nothing is going to go wrong, the baby will be perfectly healthy, and the baby will want you. They have a special connection with the mother right after they are born. Jess: youve been reading too many magazines. Joe: well ever since you subscribed to them.. She laughed. Joe: dont worry everything will be ok. Jess: your right. I kissed her and got back up and started packing some more. Jess: So someone called me today. Joe: oh who? Jess: Dillon. I turned around and looked at her. Joe: why would he call you? Jess: I dont know. Joe: did you answer it? Jess: Yeah. Joe: so what did he say? Jess; I didnt give him a chance to say anything. I was like Imengagedbye. And then I hung up. I just started laughing. Joe: what am I going to do with all these guys in your life? Jess: Hmmm. Ignore them and figure out what youre going to do with me. Joe: Oh yes what am I going to do with you? Jess: marry me? Joe: of course. But when is the question. Jess; well I was thinking July, the baby will be born in may and it gives us some time to get used to having a baby around- -Im sorry for breaking all the promises I wasnt around to keep. Its on me this time is the last time I will ever beg you to stay, but youre already on youre way- I laughed at jessicas ringtone. Jess; Hello? Why did you call me? no I told you Im engaged. No Im not joking. I took the phone from her.
