
(NECN/ABC) - An 11-month old baby weighing 61.6 pounds is causing concern in the Colombian city of Barranquilla -- where he is to undergo clinical tests to determine the cause of his abnormal weight gain. Local media reported that the boy, Deyner, has the weight of a typical 8-year-old child. Clinical tests will be done to determine if the child suffers from obesity or if it is hypothyroidism -- a disease that results in insufficient production of the thyroid hormone by the thyroid gland, and can result in dramatic weight gain -- among other symptoms. read more
