
DALLAS (AP) - Texas health officials say tests show there was contaminated peanut meal at a plant operated by the company linked to the national salmonella outbreak. Health officials tested products at the Plainview, Texas plant on Feb. 12 after the plant voluntarily shut down. Texas Department of State Health Services Doug McBride says the strain is the same as the one that sickened hundreds across the country. The illnesses led to one of the biggest product recalls in U.S. history, and the Virginia-based Peanut Corp. of America has filed for bankruptcy. read more
