SUDAN: Darfur: Ongoing conflict: Two hundred thousand people have been killed

One of the world's most famous movie stars and one of the world's most respected statesman. Two voices. One message. Stop history repeating itself in Africa. Stop the genocide in Sudan. George Clooney was speaking at the United Nations. Archbishop Desmond Tutu was speaking exclusively to ITN. The situation in the Darfur region is set to go way beyond crisis point. Peacekeeping troops are due to pull out in a fortnight. The 3 year war began when rebels in the Darfur region rose up against what they saw as the arab regime of Sudan's government. Its response was brutal. Two hundred thousand people have been killed in the fighting. Two and a half million have been made homeless. America has called the rape, murder and pillage of Darfur 'genocide'.
