Stocks surge over 3 percent

Mar 11. - The Dow racked up its best one day percentage in at least 5 years. The Dow soared 416 points to 12,156. The S&P 500 rallied 47 points to 1,320. The Nasdaq saw a sharp gain of 86 points to 2,255. Crude oil jumped as high as $109.72 a barrel.Conway Gittens reports from New York.
