Special effects wizard dies

Oscar-winning special effects and make-up artist Stan Winston has died aged 62.Winston, whose work includes the Terminator and Jurassic Park movies and the recently released Iron Man, was a leading figure in Hollywood imagery.In the make-up department, he worked with director Tim Burton to create the shear-fingered looks of Edward Scissorhands and Danny DeVito's grotesque Penguin guise in Batman Returns.Winston's work earned him ten Academy Award nominations in all, with four wins.A spokesman for the Stan Winston Studio said he died at home on Sunday surrounded by family after a seven-year struggle with cancer.
