SoNIA Online Network Data Animation

Used my dissertation data to create a movie using SoNIA. http://www.stanford.edu/group/sonia/ The squares are Projects, and circles are Users who are collaborating. This data is only for 7 projects and about 50 users. The entire dataset has 4059 projects and over 380 users. The subset of the data was built using STATA interfacing to a mySQL database, representing 3 years of online collaborations. Custom output .do files were written to put thing in proper SoNIA format. A yellow flash-line signifies a post being made, and line width changes based on number of posts. Node size for USers is based on total number of projects, and node size for the Projects grows as mode users become involved. The software works fine, but I think it takes too much time to get things the way anyone would want them. I had to render every 30 events, and I rescaled after each frame, otherwise all the nodes would be off doing their thing without be seeing it. If anyone has any advice as to how I can get this viz to look reasonable, please feel free to contact me. bcasey1.at.hotmail.dot.com
