When Ethiopian forces backed by America invaded Somalia in January 2007, the aim was to rid Somalia of the African Taliban, and bring stability to a country without a functioning government for a decade and a half. Instead, it has proved a catastrophic failure, sparking an unremitting insurgency that's brought unprecedented bloodshed and chaos to the streets of the capital Mogadishu. Channel 4 news commisioned a Somali cameraman to record life in Mogadishu over the last month. His pictures capture the complete disintegration of normal life including what appear to be early warning signs of famine.
