SOMALIA: Insurgency brings bloodshed and chaos to Mogadishu

When Ethiopian forces backed by America invaded Somalia in January 2007, the aim was to rid Somalia of the African Taliban, and bring stability to a country without a functioning government for a decade and a half. Instead, it has proved a catastrophic failure, sparking an unremitting insurgency that's brought unprecedented bloodshed and chaos to the streets of the capital Mogadishu. Channel 4 news commisioned a Somali cameraman to record life in Mogadishu over the last month. His pictures capture the complete disintegration of normal life including what appear to be early warning signs of famine.
