Six injured in Brockton house fire

The Enterprise of Brockton, Mass. www.enterprisenews.com By Maria Papadopoulos, Enterprise staff writer BROCKTON — Three city residents were sent to local hospitals with potentially life-threatening injuries and three police officers were also hurt in a house fire on Moraine Street this afternoon, fire officials said. The names and ages of the victims were not released. The three seriously injured people were all tenants of the house, officials said. They were taken to local hospitals; their conditions were not immediately known. The injuries to the three unidentified police officers were not life-threatening, officials said. They were treated at the scene and then taken to the hospital. Firefighters, police, state police and emergency medical personnel responded to 91 Moraine St. after receiving an emergency 911 call at 2:36 p.m. that people were trapped. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, fire officials said. A charred mattress and pillow lay on the front lawn of the two-story house as firefighters worked at the scene and ambulances took the injured people to local hospitals.
