Speaking as a Bob Dylan fanatic, I am ashamed by this particular moment in Dylan history. October 16, 1992. Following her controversial appearance on Saturday Night Live when she tore a photo of Pope John-Paul II, Sinead O'Connor appeared at the Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary Concert and received a tidal wave of boos and catcalls. She stopped the song she'd intended to perform, and instead reprised her SNL performance of Bob Marley's "War" that had earned her so much animosity. It's downright offensive to me that Bob Dylan fans would attack a social activist for having the courage of her convictions. A sad day.
