Sharon Stone hosts annual amfAR bash in Cannes
A plethora of A-listers donned their gladrags for the annual amfAR fundraiser during the Cannes Film Festival. US President Bill Clinton, Annie Lennox, Josh Hartnett, Danny Glover, Mike Myers, Claudia Schiffer, Donatella Versace, 50 Cent and Paris Hilton were just some of the famous faces arriving on the black carpet event for the Cinema Against Aids event. In aid of AmFAR (the Foundation for Aids Research), the bash was hosted by Sharon Stone and held for the first time at the spectacular Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, but proceedings were somewhat less bling than usual despite the Versace-designed carpet and room. During the night, luxury goods were auctioned off, with all proceeds going to the charity. Stone said: "We have such a star-studded evening with Annie Lennox performing for us. It's fun to be up on stage. It's a fun, fun event. We have all these celebrities who come and help us auction off this beautiful stuff - Chanel, motor bikes and cars, trips and things on yachts. The most glamorous photographs. Wonderful, wonderful stuff." Mr Clinton even allowed one of his beloved saxophones to be sold off while David Furnish offered up his watch and Twilight star Robert Pattinson donated a kiss to the daughter of the highest bidder. Rapper 50 Cent said of the evening: "This is a positive event so I wanted to come out and be supportive of it. I mean it's cool and I'm already in France for Cannes." Probed on how much money he planned to fork out during the evening, he said: "I don't know. I'm trying not to do too much money. You know how you go on vacation you enjoy yourself and then you go home and you're upset because you had too much fun? You know, I'm gonna be conscientious, but I'll spend some." When asked how he was enjoying the French Riviera, 50 Cent said: "So far so good. I've been worse places."
