Schoolgirl dies during training for Dartmoor expedition

Questions are being asked about whether a teenage girl who died after being swept away in a swollen river should have been training in poor weather conditions. On 4th March, a training trip for the Dartmoor Ten Tors Challenge, a hiking event organised by the Army, ended in disaster when the girl was swept away in a stream swollen by torrential rain. The expedition is known to test the endurance of its young competitors and requires months of preparation.
