Scale of downturn comes as a 'surprise'
Business leaders are warning that the recession is likely to be deeper than the one in the early 1990s.The British Chambers of Commerce said its latest quarterly survey has uncovered a "frightening deterioriation" in the economy.A separate survey by retailers shows that sales were down over the Christmas period, making it the worst December in at least 14 years.Maryan Moshiri reports.
