Ryan Layne Whitney: Tárrega: Recuerdos de la Alhambra (on the clavichord)

Francisco Tárrega: Recuerdos de la Alhambra, played in a replica 1670 Gellinger clavichord. I hope that guitarists will excuse me for presuming to try to play this famous guitar piece on the clavichord. No need to chastise me by telling me that it doesn't work so well! Take it as an anomalous novelty, and know that my struggles with the right-hand repeated notes were fitting enough punishment for my presumption. I only recently bought this delightful instrument, and am testing its boundaries. I do not seek to become the Narcisso Yepes of the clavichord (whose performance of this piece on guitar---available here on YouTube---is among my favorites). The clavichord, by the way, is a replica of Israel Gellinger's 1670 model built in Frankfort. This replica was built by Jack Peters here in Seattle, Washington ( http://www.jackpeters.com ). Except for several bass notes, it is triple fretted. The case is made out of one piece of walnut, and the keyboard is olive wood naturals and ebony accidentals.
