The Queen has officially named a new 12 million pound buoy and lighthouse maintenance ship.THV Galatea is currently berthed alongside HMS Belfast in the Pool of London - the stretch of the River Thames which runs from Tower Bridge to London Bridge.She was built to patrol the coastlines of England and Wales and keep the seaways clear and safe.Her role will include checking all beacons, buoys and lighthouses, and locating wrecks.The Galatea is the new vessel for Trinity House - the General Lighthouse Authority for England, Wales and the Channel Islands.
