RETAIL: Rise of Internet shopping for Christmas presents

Crowds on the high street for Christmas shopping are a bit thinner than usual because more people are choosing to buy presents on the internet. In fact there has been nearly ten percent fewer people shopping on the high street this year. Overall, the internet accounts for just four percent of Christmas shopping but it is a figure that rises every year. Consumers also appear to be turning towards an ethical Christmas, choosing not to give alcohol and chocolate as presents and opting out of driving to shops.
