The song "Shiroka Strana Moya Rodnaya" ("My Spacious Homeland") was performed in Russian by Paul Robeson during his visit to the Soviet Union in 1949. Very interesting that the lyrics is different from other versions of this well known song written by Lebedev-Kumach and Dunayevskiy, so the Soviet song becomes an international song about homeland. Although the word "Tovarisch" ("Comrade") definitely adds a flavor to it :). Thanks to www.sovmusic.ru for providing the sound track, and www.GoldenCockerel.com for the most unusual matryoshka nesting doll of Barack Obama.
