Rafael Benitez has been dealt a huge blow after losing Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres for their trip to Sunderland. Gerrard has been having treatment for a groin injury sustained on England duty, and after attending Wednesday's victory over Belarus as a spectator he will not feature at the Stadium of Light. Torres, meanwhile, suffered an adductor injury while away with Spain and did not figure in their match against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Wednesday. Liverpool will be hoping they are both available for next week's Champions League clash with Lyon. As his side prepare to bounce back from their disappointing defeat at Chelsea a fortnight ago, boss Benitez is being hit by injury problems from all angles. He could be without Greece international Sotirios Kyrgiakos for six months, after the centre-back suffered what is believed to be a serious cruciate knee injury while playing for his country against Luxembourg on Wednesday.
