The cruise liner the QE2 is to become a hotel in Dubai. The luxury ship will bring "class and style" to the country, according to the company Dubai World, who've paid 100 million dollars to buy the vessel. She'll stop cruising in November next year after 41 years at sea in which times she's crossed the Atlantic more than 800 times and gone round the world 25 times. She also served as a troopship during the Falklands War, but more recently hit the headlines in January when more than 250 passengers were struck down by a highly infectious stomach bug. Her new owners say they're planning a refurbishment "in keeping with her heritage". She'll then be berthed at a specially constructed pier at The Palm Jumeirah, the world's largest man-made island, and become a floating hotel.
