Providence police probe drive-by shooting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Providence police are investigating a drive-by shooting. Police Chief Dean Esserman says the shooting does not appear to be random and that the victim, a man believed to be in his early 20s, suffered life-threatening injuries. He was undergoing surgery at Rhode Island Hospital. The shooting occurred Monday morning on Camp Street when two people in a Volvo pulled up alongside the victim, who was walking, and opened fire.
