Princes march for army parade

Princes William and Harry swapped their military uniforms for bowler hats and smart City suits as they marched together in an Army parade.They joined hundreds of former and serving soldiers in London's Hyde Park for the annual Combined Cavalry Old Comrades Association Parade.Both attended the march representing the Household Cavalry's Blues and Royals, the sponsor regiment for this year's event.The "City suit" tradition, which sees officers sporting black bowler hats and carrying umbrellas, reflects the "proper order of dress" before the First World War.As well as the City attire, William, 24, and Harry, 22, also wore the navy blue and claret regimental tie of the Household Division.Their aunt, The Princess Royal, who is colonel of the Blues and Royals, took the salute during the parade.It is the first time Prince William has taken part in the parade, now in its 83rd year, but Harry, soon due to serve with his regiment in Iraq, attended last year.© Independent Television News Limited 2007.
