If a woman who is HIV positive becomes pregnant, there's a risk that her baby will contract HIV during pregnancy, childbirth, or breast feeding. Becky Kuhn, M.D. explains how the risk can be reduced through the use of antiretroviral medications for the mother and the infant. These guidelines are for women in developing countries which often lack access to clean water, infant formula, medical care, and antiretroviral medications.
