Emily Benn, granddaughter of retired left-wing Labour MP Tony Benn and niece of Environment Secretary Hilary Benn has been selected to stand as a parliamentary candidate for the Labour Party. 17-year-old Emily, who lives in South London, will legally be able to stand after her 18th birthday following new rules lowering the age for prospective parliamentary candidates. Ms Benn will contest the Conservative-held seat of East Worthing and Shoreham in West Sussex at the next election.
