POLITICS: Multiculturalism: Ruth Kelly statement

The government encouraged everyone to embark on a 'new and honest' debate about our multi-cultural society. This on the day Britain's population rose to a record - 60 million - some of that rise driven by record immigration. Immigration and the frustrations of some communities have often spilled onto the streets. Communities Secretary, Ruth Kelly, looked to Oldham for inspiration on how to tackle segregated Britain - she said it is not racist to tackle those problems head on.
