POLICE: Plaistow Police Community Support Officer injured in hit-and-run incident

A PCSO - Police Community Support Officers - was run over and seriously injured as he investigated allegations of drug dealing in a car park in Plaistow. Witnesses say he tried to stop the car when it accelerated into him and drove away, leaving him for dead. After other community officers have been criticised for not getting involved, this incident has brought the issues of training and the rules of engagement for PCSOs, sharply into sharp focus.
