Business is booming at Sotheby's in Paris. Last year its French auctions brought in a whopping 119 million euros. The auction house's recent success is largely attributed to Duke Philipp von Württemberg, who heads the firm's European operations. Not only does he personally auction off paintings, furniture or jewellery himself, he also maintains contacts with many of Sotheby's exclusive clients. This personal touch has helped reverse the company's fortunes. We accompanied von Württemberg to one of this year's most spectacular furniture auctions in Paris and got a peek behind the scenes at the famous auction house.
