Patrick Swayze's agent slams death rumours
Online rumours suggesting Patrick Swayze has died have been denied by his publicist. The internet was abuzz earlier with claims the 56-year-old Dirty Dancing star had lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. Hundreds of messages were sent via the social networking site Twitter. The US actor's Wikipedia entry was even updated to note his apparent death. The rumours have been denied by his representatives but other reports suggest the star is gravely ill in hospital. News broke in early 2008 that Swayze had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of the disease. The prognosis is generally regarded as poor. Fewer than 5 per cent of those who develop the disease are still alive five years after diagnosis. Swayze has continued to work, despite his illness, filming US cop show The Beast, in which he stars as an FBI agent.
